Sad to say, From the Abyss is an extremely unremarkable game through-and-through. From the visual style and plot to the game mechanics, it's all been done before in some form or another. The good news in all of this is the game still offers a good time for fans of the genre.
But one of Phantom Abyss' coolest features is its asynchronous multiplayer in the classic Abyss Phantom Abyss Speedrun Mode. The ghosts of other, failed adventurers pop up in the level as you go, letting you see how other people died gruesomely on the way.
The cursed obsidian whip is probably more suited for endgame dungeons where there are fewer phantoms left to compete with.
